Hello Playa Families and welcome to week 36!

 

I hope everyone enjoyed your Mother’s Day weekend and ready to look at the week ahead: 


We’re at almost at the finish line with Smarter Balanced testing. Congratulations to grades 3 & 4 on your completion of the test. Testing in science continues this week for 5th graders.

In Attendance News! We’re extremely proud of our Dolphins for meeting the attendance goal for the month of April: Ms. Olivas 4th Gr, 95%; Ms. Villalba 3rd Gr, 95%; Ms. Elliott, 4/5 Gr., 95%; Ms. Takara 2nd Gr. 94%; Ms. Takeshima 1st Gr., 94%; Mr. Zielina Kinder, 94%; Ms. Yasutake 1st Gr. 94%; Ms. Gonzalez 2nd Gr. 94%; Ms. Sampay Kinder 94%, Ms. Zeidman 3rd Gr. 93%; Ms. Sheffie 5th Gr. 93%, Ms. Zaret TK, 92% and Ms. Patterson PK 91%. In addition, 150th day of school ended on April 25th (with only 30 more days left). We have 165 students with Proficient attendance (6 absences or less) and 42 students with PERFECT attendance. Big cheer to those families and keep up the great work! 
 
Lastly, our heartfelt thanks to Friends of Playa (Coordinated by Maura Gonzalez) for morning breakfast service, lunch, dessert, gifts, messages, hugs and love during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Another BIG SHOUT OUT to Mayra, Pam, Michelle, and Jason for making us all feel so special.

Save the Date

  • School Beautification & Community Service Day will be on Sunday May 19th from 9am-2pm; 
  • PS Arts Hosting Family Art Night 5/21, 4pm;
  • Spring Orchestra concert-May 21st, 5pm; and a special Coffee with Board Member Melvoin 5/31-8:30am
