MAY WE CELEBRATE: ASIAN AMERICAN/PACIFIC ISLANDER & NATIONAL MENTAL HEALTH MONTH
COFFEE & CONVERSATION: This Thursday, May 26th at 11am, join me for a virtual coffee and conversation. We’ll talk about summer school, new covid guidelines, and more. The zoom meeting link is listed in the “Looking Ahead” section.
VENICE TOWN HALL: Families are invited to attend the next Venice Community of Schools Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, May 25th at 5pm to discuss: closing the digital divide, summer school 2022 and new covid protocols. To register and attend, please see flyer here.
STAR SUMMER CAMP: STAR Summer Camp is now open for registration. Summer camp starts June 13th at various sites. Classes offered from Chess to Theater, Art to Science, our STAR Camps have been curated by enrichment specialists intent on developing deeper interest and expanding intellectual growth for students of all ages and grade levels. ORCHESTRA CONCERT: Save the date for our in person orchestra performance with two shows directed by our District instrumental teacher, Ms. Kathrine Shaw. The performance is scheduled on Tuesday, May 31st in the Auditorium. The show times will be after school: 4:00pm; 5:30pm. For information about student performance times for winds, strings and dress attire see flyer here.
NEW COVID PROTOCOL UPDATE: As a reminder, all close contacts will be required to wear a mask for 10 days at all times after exposure indoors/outdoors. In addition to new requirements, please continue to monitor for symptoms and test weekly. Medical upgrade masks are still required at school.
THEATRE ARTS SUMMER CAMP: Mr. Donzell, our beloved theatre arts teacher, offering an exciting summer camp engaging in sketch study, movement, on-camera study, and more. The program starts Monday, June 13th and a $50 discount will be given to any Playa student who registers before May 15th. See flyer for registration link and camp dates.
LAUSD SUMMER SCHOOL UPDATE There is still space available for summer school programs with after school Beyond-the-Bell until 6:00pm at the following sites: Grand View ES, Stoner ES, and Marina MS. The dates for summer programs are from June 22-July 22 M-F 8:30-12:00pm ; with Beyond the Bell from 12:00pm-6:00pm. Please see new attached flyers to register. English Spanish
SUMMER YOUTH CAMPS AT OTIS: Summer Youth Camps are now open at Otis College of Art and Design! These weeklong camps offer exciting and engaging art programs for children ages 5-14 and run from Monday, June 13th – Friday, August 5th. Students will have the opportunity to explore a specific art and design focus within a collaborative and supportive learning environment. Camp projects will introduce the elements and principles of art and design through different media ranging from puppet making and graphic design to folk art and ceramics. Our very own Artist in Residence from Otis College, Teri Suzanne (Miss Teri).
